Very inspiring! I feel like I could never get away with yellow eye shadow though… too safe of me?

It depends on your skin color and your audace; iF YOU WANT SOMETHING REALLY BRIGHT YOU WILL NEED A product very pigmented and what I do is apply nearly the same color or a bit darker with a pencil then I put the eye shadow so it appears brighter and it lasts for a longuer time.
You can debute with a pastel yellow or a green which contains much yellow such as pistachio green and make an ombré, with the more yellow color on the extern part and a very green on the intern part.
An other possibility is to put a yellow eyeshadow and cover it with a gold one.
